The treatment

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients are surprised how comfortable it is. We use a Diode 810 laser with Sapphire Cooling: the cold sapphire tip cools your skin with every pulse, so you feel a quick, warm flick rather than pain. Sensitive areas like the bikini can feel a little stronger. Just tell us how it feels. We're right beside you the whole time.

How does laser hair removal work?

The laser light is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair and carries heat down to the root. That weakens the root, so the hair grows back finer, or not at all. The skin around it stays cool thanks to the cooling tip. The laser only reaches hairs that are actively growing, which is why you need a series of sessions.

Does it work on my skin and hair type?

Laser works best on dark hair, because it needs the pigment in the hair to find it. Our Diode 810 suits most skin tones, including tanned skin. Light blond, grey, white and red hair have very little pigment, so they respond poorly or not at all. We'd rather tell you that honestly up front. Not sure about your hair? Message us and we'll give you an honest answer.

Do you treat men too?

Yes, men are very welcome. Back, arms, armpits and legs are popular areas. Message us with the areas you have in mind.

Sessions & results

How many sessions will I need?

The more sessions you do, the better it works. For most people, 7 sessions is enough to get the job done. Everyone is different, though: results depend on your skin, your hair colour and how your hair grows.

Why are sessions 3 weeks apart?

Hair grows in cycles. At any moment only part of your hair is in the growing phase that the laser can reach. Waiting 3 weeks gives the next group of hairs time to come up, so every session treats new hair. That's why a full course of 7 sessions takes about 5 months.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Yes. A root that has been properly treated doesn't grow hair again. Over the years, hormones can sometimes wake up a few new, fine hairs. If that happens, an occasional extra session takes care of it. Results vary from person to person.

Before & after

Who should wait before having laser?

Before your first session we go through a short health form with you. Please tell us if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, use exfoliating acids, vitamin A (retinoid) products or steroids, have wounds or irritated skin on the area, had laser or waxing there in the last 2 weeks, have allergies, or had surgery. In some cases it's better to wait. We'll talk it through together and only treat you when it's right for you.

How do I prepare for a session?

Shave the area the day before, so the laser can go straight to the root. Don't wax, pluck or use an epilator on the area for 2 weeks before, because the laser needs the root in place. Try to avoid strong sun on the area before your visit. Come with clean skin, without deodorant, lotion or make-up on the area.

What happens after a session?

After every session you get free hydrating post-care to soothe your skin. A little redness or warmth is normal and usually settles within a few hours. For the next day or two, protect the area from strong sun, use sunscreen, and skip saunas and very hot showers. Between sessions you can shave, but please don't wax or pluck.

Is the post-care really free?

Yes. Every session includes free hydrating post-care, whatever area you do, at no extra cost. It's part of how we look after you.
